We will be offering a Home School Day holiday program on Friday, December 13th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
This event will allow home-school families to explore the village at a special educational rate of $5 per child and per parent or guardian. Attendees will hear the delightful holiday story of Henrici’s Cat, make an ornament, do some holiday-themed activities, and meet Belsnickel (the German keeper of the Naughty and Nice Book for St. Nicholas). Students will also get a chance to visit the decorated buildings, try some holiday hands-on activities, see a variety of demonstrations, and learn about life in the 1830s.
Old Economy is also offering a special letterpress learning opportunity for middle and high school homeschool students during our upcoming Holiday Homeschool Day at no extra charge!
Students will receive direct instruction on the history and techniques of letterpress printing. Utilizing the resources of Old Economy Village Print Shop, students will complete a project from typesetting to the final prints. This informative, active, and intense workshop experience is only for middle and high school students (ages 12-17). There will be two sessions with a limit of eight participants in each session.
